“Art cannot be modern; art is eternal.” Egon Schiele wrote this on a watercolor, which shows two armchairs, when he was in prison in 1912 in Neulengbach. This is the 50th edition of the ART&ANTIQUE fair. For half a century now, the country’s most famous and accomplished art dealers as well as selected international exhibitors, 46 this year, have been presenting themselves at ART&ANTIQUE with exhibits ranging from antiquity to the present day. This is not yet an eternity, but a proud anniversary. One that also meets the retrospective view of 100 years of Viennese modernism.
