“Style is not something final, but constant transformation,” said Walter Gropius, co-founder of the Bauhaus in Weimar. This “creative laboratory of modernity” is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. An anniversary that inspires us to trace the changes in styles and art in their time at the 51st ART&ANTIQUE in the Hofburg Vienna.
From 9th to 17th November 2019, visitors were offered works from a broad time span. It ranges from antiquity to present times. Just as the stylistic influence of the Bauhaus influenced all areas, the wealth in the Hofburg is also comprehensive and includes paintings, graphics, sculpture, furniture, arts and crafts, design and jewellery.
