Corner bench Koloman Moser, J.&J. Kohn, model nr. 413. ca. 1901
Renzi, page 54
The architect and painter Koloman Moser was responsible for some of the most impressive objects d’art during the Wiener Jugendstil. Especially the furniture is not only asked for by museums but also in the art trade and regularly achieves ceiling prices. The quality and the creational spirit behind these designs are celebrated in the whole world.
At that time the enterprise J. & J. Kohn together with the Brothers Thonet were the leading European manufacturers for furniture. The shown bench was probably made around 1900. The stained and polished beech seems like a tropical wood and the high quality brass fastenings give the whole suite a great finish. Corner benches of the model 413 are particularly rare on the art market.
